Ruaridh Aldington has joined the cast of "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" Season 2 as a series regular, playing Keats, a young alien whose arrival at the Academy puts him in danger once the cadets discover he is a wanted man. The casting was announced at the "Star Trek" 60th anniversary panel at San Diego Comic-Con, adding a new figure to a season that will also be the show's last.
Set after the events of The Burn, Season 2 follows a fresh cohort of cadets, with Holly Hunter returning as Commander Chancellor Nahla Ake and Paul Giamatti expected back as villain Nus Braka. Aldington, a London-based actor previously seen in "Drained" and "Dirty Boy", is repped by Curtis Brown Talent; showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau lead the CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment production, which has yet to set a release date.

Starfleet Academy is a school in the fictional Star Trek universe where future officers are trained to serve in Starfleet, the space exploration and defence organisation. The series follows young cadets as they learn, form friendships and face threats beyond the classroom.
The show takes place after an event known as The Burn, which disrupted space travel and weakened the wider United Federation of Planets. Its main adult figures include Nahla Ake, who leads the Academy, and Nus Braka, a powerful adversary connected to the cadets’ world.
Star Trek has been a long-running science-fiction franchise since the 1960s, built around stories of exploration, diplomacy and life among many alien species. New characters at the Academy can affect both the students’ personal lives and the safety of the institution.
