New York indie rock band Starcleaner Reunion have announced their debut album, Umbrella, due out in September, alongside a new single titled "Never Odd Or Even". The band, previously highlighted by Stereogum as one of 2024's Best New Artists, have been building momentum, and the album marks a significant step following their well-received sophomore EP, Cafe Life.

"Never Odd Or Even" is described as a woozy indie rock track with soft, sprawling vocals and meandering guitars, drawing comparisons to the psychedelic style of Crumb. According to the band, the song explores the anticipation of sharing personal secrets, with its shifting structure — moving between a propulsive motorik rush and a 5/4 waltz — mirroring the tension between excitement and darkness. The 11-track album, which includes the earlier single "Weather Instrument", is set for release on 25 September via Take Care and is available to pre-order.

Starcleaner Reunion are a New York-based indie rock band who gained attention after Stereogum named them one of the best new artists of 2024. They followed that recognition with a well-liked EP called Cafe Life, and have continued releasing new music since, building a steady following in the indie rock scene.

Their sound has drawn comparisons to psychedelic-leaning indie acts, known for hazy vocals, layered guitars and songs that shift between different rhythms and moods. This background is relevant because it sets the context for the band's move from shorter releases to a first full-length album, a common milestone for developing acts. The album is being released through the label Take Care.
