Steam wishlists are getting categories, making it even easier to organise all those games you’ll definitely buy next sale

Valve is adding categorisation to Steam wishlists, letting players sort their saved games into custom groups such as genre, release year or review score, alongside improved search and sharing tools. The change responds to user requests for better ways to manage increasingly long wishlists, and comes bundled with updates that make gifting games to others considerably easier.

Players will be able to filter their wishlist by category, assign games to specific categories when adding them, and choose which notifications they receive for each title. Wishlists can also now be shared with others, tying into an expanded guest checkout system that previously covered only gift cards and hardware but can now be used to buy any game on Steam; games can also be gifted directly to someone's email address, and cross-region gifting is now supported.

  • Steam wishlists can now be sorted into custom categories
  • Guest checkout extended to cover all game purchases, not just gift cards
  • Gifting by email and across regions is now supported
