Steelkings to lift BPIHL trophy in Sheffield derby – thestar.co.uk
Sheffield Steelkings' A-team, known as the Kings, are set to be presented with the British Para Ice Hockey League (BPIHL) trophy during an all-Sheffield derby against their own B-team, the Stings, at IceSheffield on Friday 31 July. The Kings have already secured the title mathematically after a win in Cardiff the previous weekend, giving the club back-to-back league championships and a third title overall, with the presentation set to take place before the match kicks off.
The free-entry fixture, which begins at 18:40, is the second all-Sheffield derby of the season. When the two sides met earlier in the campaign, the Kings won convincingly, 9-1, though the Stings have shown improved form since, beating Manchester Mayhem 4-0 in their most recent outing in Widnes. A win for the Stings in this derby would lift them to third place in the league standings, while the Kings will be looking to maintain momentum ahead of the playoffs in September.
