SteelSeries has entered the premium gaming controller market with the Aeon Pro, a $259.99 wireless controller for Xbox and PC that began shipping today. It marks the company's first serious push into controllers, an area where it has historically had little presence compared with its established headset and peripheral lines, and it is pitched directly at the high end of the market rather than easing in with budget options.

The controller features a small OLED screen for switching between Xbox, PC and Bluetooth connections and adjusting settings, plus a swappable battery system with two batteries lasting roughly 12 hours each, one of which charges in a bundled wireless base station. It also includes Hall effect joysticks and triggers, mostly mechanical-switch inputs, adjustable two-position trigger stops and four fixed rear paddles. Reviewers noted the lack of an included carrying case at this price and pointed to cheaper rivals such as Valve's $99 Steam Controller, Sony's DualSense Edge and 8BitDo's $149.99 Ultimate 3E, though the Aeon Pro was still seen as giving SteelSeries credible standing in the controller space.
