Prime Video will premiere a new television adaptation of Stephen King’s *Carrie* in October 2026, around two months after the article’s publication. The project matters because it revisits King’s first published novel in a multi-episode format, potentially allowing more space to explore its story of bullying, religious control and telekinetic violence.

Mike Flanagan will write, create and executive-produce the series, following his previous King adaptations *Doctor Sleep* and *The Life of Chuck*. Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, with Samantha Sloyan as her controlling mother Margaret; Amber Midthunder, Matthew Lillard and several younger supporting actors also feature. The adaptation is based on King’s 1974 novel, whose earlier film version was described by critic Roger Ebert as “spellbinding”.
