Stephen Wilson Jr. Interpolates a Pixies Classic on a New Song Featuring Miranda Lambert
Stephen Wilson Jr. has released “Hardwired”, a collaboration with Miranda Lambert that incorporates elements of the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?”. The song blends country songwriting with alternative-rock influences to portray working-class strain, exhaustion and the mental pressure of constant hard living, reinforcing Wilson’s interest in rural and blue-collar stories.

Miranda Lambert is a major country artist and songwriter, known for recordings that range from traditional country to rock-influenced material. The Pixies are an influential American alternative-rock band; their song “Where Is My Mind?” is widely recognised and has been used in films and popular culture.
The use of elements from an older song in a new recording is often called interpolation, meaning a writer adapts part of an existing composition rather than using the original recording itself. Such collaborations and musical references can introduce artists to different audiences while linking country music with other styles.
