Love Affair singer Steve Ellis dies aged 76 after chronic illness complications
Steve Ellis, the singer who led 1960s pop-rock band Love Affair, has died aged 76. He died peacefully on 30 October after complications from a chronic illness; his expressive voice made the group’s recording of “Everlasting Love” a lasting hit.
The song spent two weeks at No 1 in the UK in 1968, and Love Affair went on to score three more UK Top 10 hits. Ellis later formed other bands and released solo albums, including several made with Paul Weller, whose collaboration with him continued through Ellis’s latest album, released in September. Weller paid tribute after his death.
