Marillion guitarist Steve Rothery has discussed the veteran prog rock band's forthcoming activities, including an extensive UK tour, a new studio album, and his own side project, in an interview with Classic Rock. The band, marking over four decades together, are preparing to film two shows in Pompeii, with Rothery suggesting the group's future together may be limited, saying he doesn't envisage them working for more than another six years given their ages.

Rothery also addressed a recent incident in which frontman Steve Hogarth fell off stage during a show in Frankfurt but escaped injury and continued performing without missing a beat. The band's 14-date British tour begins in September, and the setlist is being shaped partly as rehearsal for the upcoming Pompeii filming, with a mix of new and older material. Marillion's next studio album will be their 21st, and Rothery has also released The Roaring Waves, a collaborative record with former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett.
