Steven Spielberg’s ‘Ready Player One’ Officially Returns After 9 Years, but There’s a Catch
Ready Player One is returning in graphic novel form, nearly nine years after Steven Spielberg’s film adaptation reached cinemas. The release brings Ernest Cline’s story to a new format, while a planned follow-up adaptation suggests publishers are continuing to develop the franchise beyond the original book.
The graphic novel is published by Ten Speed Graphic, written by Scott Peterson and illustrated by Meredith Laxton. US paperback and hardcover editions are scheduled for 2 March 2027; the book is already available through major retailers in the UK and Canada. A graphic novel adaptation of Ready Player Two is planned for 2028.
