Steven Wilson announces new album, Requiem For A Village, and shares title track
Progressive rock musician Steven Wilson has announced his ninth studio album, Requiem For A Village, due for release through Fiction Records on 6 November, alongside a video for the title track. The album marks a deliberate shift towards more human, imperfect musicianship, with Wilson favouring analogue instruments and unfamiliar instrumentation over software-based production, describing the record as journeying into a timeless, fictional village.
The album features narration from actor David Tennant, with former XTC member Andy Partridge writing the narration and some lyrics, alongside contributions from multi-instrumentalist Randy McStine, drummer Russell Holzman and vocalist Katherine Priddy. Wilson will preview the project with a DJ set at The Social in London on 22 September, with proceeds going to the Here 2 Belong charity, and the album will be released across multiple formats including CD, Blu-Ray, vinyl and a hardback boxset.
