Strand Releasing Takes North American For Hanaël El Yousfi’s TIFF-Selected ‘The Daughters Of Abraham’

Deadline ·

Strand Releasing has acquired North American distribution rights to Hanaël El Yousfi’s debut feature, *The Daughters of Abraham*, after its international premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. The deal gives the film a North American release planned for 2027.

Set in Marseille, the film follows Myriam and Eva, two friends in their early twenties navigating family expectations and their own futures. Their Muslim and Jewish families’ differing traditions, a breach of trust and tensions among friends lead to a crisis that pushes the women to shape their own lives. The film won the Audience Award and a cast prize at France’s Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, and is due to open in France on 30 December.
