Netflix has confirmed that the second season of "Stranger Things: Tales from '85," an animated spin-off of the flagship series, will premiere on 17 September 2026. The announcement, part of Netflix's autumn slate reveal, means the follow-up arrives just under five months after the first season debuted on 23 April 2026, a notably fast turnaround suggesting production on new episodes began well before the renewal was formally confirmed.

The new season will see the characters investigate ghostly apparitions and a wave of strange creatures around Valentine's Day. The first season, set between the second and third seasons of the main show, drew a mixed reception, scoring 63% with critics and 52% with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. It was developed by Eric Robles and Jennifer Muro, with Robles as showrunner and the Duffer Brothers as executive producers, and produced by Netflix Animation Studios alongside Upside Down Pictures, 21 Laps Entertainment and Flying Bark Productions. The spin-off follows the conclusion of Stranger Things' main run, which ended its 42-episode run on 31 December 2025 after becoming Netflix's most-watched original series.
