Strawberry Hands Announces New Album A Jazz Blessing For The Animal: Hear “Dream Of Water”

Stereogum · 23 hours ago

Philadelphia musician Jacob Brunner, who performs as Strawberry Hands and also plays in Weyes Blood's touring band, has announced his new album A Jazz Blessing For The Animal, due out on 18 September via Otherly Love. It follows his 2020 record I Advance Wearing A Mask and arrives alongside the release of lead single "Dream Of Water", an indie-folk track Brunner has described as a tribute to both Zen poet Ikkyū Sōjun and his own photographer father.

The nine-track album was written and produced between 2022 and 2024 across Philadelphia and the New York towns of Hudson and Waterford, and features contributions from several musicians, including Karl Blau on saxophone and percussion. To support the release, Strawberry Hands will tour the East Coast as a full band in late August, including a record release show in Philadelphia on 13 September, before Brunner plays a handful of solo dates out West in September, taking in Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, San Francisco and Portland.
