The creators of HBO Max’s The Big Bang Theory spin-off Stuart Fails To Save the Universe say its opening titles are designed to be watched rather than skipped. Each episode uses a different animated sequence, with fourth-wall-breaking messages and deliberate spoilers, to complement the show’s multiverse storyline and make the credits part of the viewing experience.

The 10-episode series follows Stuart, Denise, Bert and Kripke as they travel through alternate realities after Sheldon and Leonard’s device triggers a multiverse crisis. Danny Elfman wrote and repeatedly reworked the theme for the changing sequences; the first episode’s credits state “Barry Dies”, referring to Denise’s boyfriend, while the premiere also features the more significant death of Raj.
