Suede tell us about progress on their new “anarcho-punk” album: “These are songs of tribes and belonging”
Suede say they are deep into writing their 11th album, which they describe as an “anarcho-punk” record. The band see it as the final part of a musical triptych following the punk-influenced *Autofiction* and post-punk *Antidepressants*, extending a recent run of conceptually connected albums.
Guitarist Neil Codling says the new material may be more anthemic, with simple, song-led writing, and the band hope to begin recording soon. The comments came at the 2026 Mercury Prize, where *Antidepressants* was shortlisted but lost to Raye’s *This Music May Contain Hope*; Suede also reflected on winning the prize in 1993 and on their approach to shaping albums as complete journeys.
