SUFC News: United end Spanish training camp with win as new season prep steps up – thestar.co.uk

Sheffield United rounded off their pre-season training camp in Spain with a 2-1 friendly win over La Liga side Levante, keeping their summer preparations unbeaten as manager Chris Wilder continues to build fitness and combinations ahead of the new season. The result, played behind closed doors near Valencia, marked United's second victory in three pre-season fixtures and allowed Wilder to test a wide range of players before the squad returned to South Yorkshire.

Femi Seriki and Sam McCallum scored inside the opening seven minutes, with Wilder making wholesale changes at half-time to give around 22 players game time, some in the club's new away kit worn for the first time. Jamal Baptiste continued at centre-back despite United's search for defensive reinforcements, while McCallum's display was seen as a strong claim for the left-back spot ahead of rival Harrison Burrows. United's next test is a behind-closed-doors friendly at home to League One's Huddersfield Town at their Shirecliffe base.

  • Sheffield United beat Levante 2-1 to end their Spanish training camp
  • Femi Seriki and Sam McCallum scored early goals
  • Wilder rotated heavily, giving around 22 players minutes
  • Next up: a friendly against Huddersfield Town at Shirecliffe
