Sheffield United were assessing an injury suffered by leading scorer Iliman Ndiaye, raising concerns that he could miss the Championship match against Hull City. His possible absence mattered because he had become one of the team’s most influential attackers and United were competing near the top of the table.

Ndiaye scored his 10th goal of the season in the win over Stoke City before being substituted in the second half and reportedly leaving with ice around his leg. Manager Paul Heckingbottom said the player had wanted to continue, offering some hope that the problem was not serious, but medical tests were needed; Ndiaye had also contributed seven assists and was directly involved in more than a third of United’s goals.
