Sufjan Stevens has announced a new holiday compilation, Worst Christmas Ever!, due for release on 6th November via Asthmatic Kitty Records. The 16-track album condenses his extensive Christmas back catalogue into a single collection, drawing on material recorded since 2001 when Stevens began making festive songs at home as gifts for friends and family, and includes one previously unreleased track.

The compilation gathers 15 songs from Stevens' earlier box sets, Songs for Christmas (2006) and Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Vols. 6-10 (2012), alongside the new track "On This Christmas (It Only Gets Better)." It mixes original compositions such as "Sister Winter" with covers of classics including "Silent Night" and "Joy To The World," featuring contributions from collaborators such as Aaron and Bryce Dessner and Rob Moose, with artwork by Ben Giles. The release follows last year's expanded reissue of Carrie & Lowell and Stevens' work producing Meg Lui's forthcoming debut album, Instant Validation.
