SULLY ERNA: New GODSMACK Music To Arrive By Summer Of 2027

Blabbermouth · 2 hours ago

GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna has confirmed the band plans to begin writing new music once their current touring commitments wrap up, with new material expected to surface by summer 2027. It would be the group's first new album since 2023's "Lighting Up The Sky," and comes as the band continues to settle into a significantly reshuffled lineup following the departures of two longtime members.

Speaking to Rock 100.5 The KATT FM at the Rocklahoma festival, Erna said the band would finish out 2026's touring schedule before taking a break and starting to write. GODSMACK now features former DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Mangini, who made his live debut in June after briefly replacing stand-in Wade Murff; both followed the late-2024 exits of drummer Shannon Larkin and guitarist Tony Rombola, who no longer wanted to tour. Erna also discussed the band's recent live album "Live At Mohegan Sun," a tribute to the classic lineup, and praised Mangini's fit within the band's signature "Battle Of The Drums" segment, saying he could not see him leaving.

  • New GODSMACK music expected by summer 2027, Sully Erna says.
  • Drummer Mike Mangini has joined after lineup departures in 2024–2026.
  • Band finishes 2026 touring before starting to write new record.
