Suno Inks ‘Strategic Partnership’ With Believe

Billboard · 3 hours ago

Suno has signed a strategic partnership with French music company Believe, its third such deal with a music industry player after agreements with Warner Music Group and BMG. Under the arrangement, music from participating Believe and TuneCore artists and labels will be used to train Suno's forthcoming AI music models, with artists able to opt in and receive a revenue share in return. The deal matters because Suno faces multiple copyright lawsuits from major labels over unlicensed use of music in AI training, and partnerships like this represent an attempt to bring the industry onside rather than fight it in court.

The agreement also opens a new distribution pipeline: AI-generated songs made using Suno's new models trained on participating Believe catalogue material will be eligible for release through Believe and TuneCore, reversing an April policy that had blocked Suno-generated tracks from Believe's platforms. Suno remains embroiled in litigation, including a June 2024 case brought by Universal Music Group and Sony Music (Warner settled and exited in late 2025), plus newer suits from Jason Isbell's class action, Mexican label Gerencia 360 Music, and Round Hill Music's case against Suno and Anthropic, which could reportedly involve over $1 billion in damages.

  • Artists can opt in; distribution via Believe and TuneCore now allowed
  • Suno still faces major copyright lawsuits from UMG, Sony and others
