Super Mario Sunshine is the Switch 2’s next GameCube addition

Engadget · 3 hours ago

Nintendo will add Super Mario Sunshine to the Switch 2’s GameCube library through Nintendo Switch Online on 13 August. The move is significant because it makes every home-console 3D Mario game playable on Switch 2, while restoring access to a title that was previously available only through the now-delisted Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection.

Originally released for GameCube in 2002, Sunshine follows Mario on Isle Delfino as he clears pollution caused by an impostor using the water-spraying FLUDD device. It remains one of the series’ more divisive entries because of its physics, controls, camera and difficulty, but the emulated release will include upscaled visuals and save states; GameCube access requires the $50-a-year Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier.
