James Gunn confirms Superman sequel filming has finished
James Gunn has confirmed that principal photography has finished on Man of Tomorrow, the forthcoming Superman sequel, describing the shoot as a joyful experience and thanking its cast and crew. The update signals that the DC Studios film remains on track for its planned 9 July 2027 release, with David Corenswet returning as Clark Kent following this summer’s Supergirl.
Gunn shared behind-the-scenes photographs, including one of Nicholas Hoult, who returns as Lex Luthor, after the pair entered a lake following the final shot. The film’s ensemble also includes Rachel Brosnahan, Lars Eidinger, Skyler Gisondo, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Adria Arjona, Aaron Pierre and Xolo Maridueña; Gunn also said that no DCU projects, including The Brave and the Bold, are on hold amid the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger.
