Susanne Sundfør announces new album ‘Revelations Of Divine Love’ with ethereal single ‘I It Am’
Susanne Sundfør has announced her seventh studio album, ‘Revelations Of Divine Love’, and released its first single, the ethereal ‘I It Am’. Due on 2 October via Bella Union, the record marks a highly stripped-back project centred on love, motherhood and spiritual writing.
The album was recorded live in a Norwegian church with only Sundfør’s voice and a pipe organ, alongside BBC Jazz Award winner Kit Downes. Its lyrics draw on Grace Warrack’s 1901 translation of Julian of Norwich’s 14th-century ‘Revelations of Divine Love’, widely regarded as the first known book written in English by a woman; Sundfør said she sought a soft, whispered and playful sound rather than traditional organ-led grandeur.
