A 36-year-old man has been charged with murdering Ali Barzai, 52, whose body was found in a wheelie bin in West Hoe, Plymouth. The case is before the courts, and police have urged the public not to speculate while proceedings are under way.

Emergency services found Mr Barzai at about 6.40am on Wednesday and pronounced him dead at the scene. Police cordoned off nearby roads, carried out forensic searches and house-to-house enquiries, and say there will be a heightened presence in the area; the suspect remains in custody ahead of a hearing at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
