Swapmeet Make an Awesome Sound in Brooklyn

Rolling Stone ·

Baby Wave opened Swapmeet’s Brooklyn show with an energetic set, pairing dreamy indie rock with a playful take on “Take Me Home, Country Roads”. The two bands’ complementary sounds and friendship, strengthened while touring together this autumn, helped set a warm tone for the evening.

Baby Wave played “The Scene Has Changed”, which is due on its forthcoming debut album for Saddle Creek, alongside the song interpolating the John Denver classic. Before Swapmeet took the stage, drummer Gardner Gottsegen gave each band member maple syrup from his family’s Vermont farm; Swapmeet’s Doherty joked they might open it at the tour’s final stop, a Waffle House.
