Four-year-old dies after American Bully attack in Virginia county
A four-year-old boy, Garcia Welch, died after an American Bully dog attacked him in Louisa County, Virginia, on 18 October. The incident is under investigation, and the sheriff’s office has asked the community to respect his family’s privacy as they grieve.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at about 4.42pm and found Welch seriously injured while the dog was still attacking; they put the dog down to stop it. The dog was a mix of American Pit Bull Terrier and bulldog. Welch was taken by air ambulance to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His family said he had recently started preschool, and a fundraiser for funeral and memorial costs had raised more than $25,000 by Wednesday afternoon.
