SWFC: Joe Lumley absence length revealed as five-star Wednesday hail Dons thumping – The Star

🔎 Sheffield ·

Sheffield Wednesday beat AFC Wimbledon 5-0, moving to within a couple of points of the top of League One. The emphatic win followed criticism of Wednesday’s slow start in their previous match and gave them a strong platform ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

Joe Lumley missed the game with a rib problem picked up late in the draw with Huddersfield Town, and manager Henrik Pedersen estimated he could be out for two to three weeks. Deputy goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer kept a clean sheet as Wednesday recorded a third consecutive home shut-out. Davis Keillor-Dunn scored twice, while Barry Bannan, Harry Gray and Callum Slattery also found the net; Wednesday had 25 shots.
