Nintendo Switch 2 demo kiosks in the United States are now displaying a notice that the console’s suggested retail price will rise from $449.99 to $499.99 on 1 September 2026. The in-store messaging signals that the previously announced increase is imminent for North American buyers, following price changes already introduced in Japan.

The rise amounts to $50, although retailers may set different final prices. Nintendo has cited wider uncertainty around component costs and shortages, while Sony, Microsoft and Valve have also raised hardware prices; it has not ruled out further Switch 2 increases. Nintendo reported worldwide Switch 2 sales of 23.68 million units by 30 June 2026, with uptake still ahead of the original Switch despite lower first-quarter sales year on year.
