SwitchBot has unveiled a new retrofit smart lock at IFA aimed at the European market, offering homeowners up to 19 different ways to unlock their doors without a traditional key. The launch matters because it expands SwitchBot's push into smart home security, targeting broad compatibility with existing European door hardware rather than requiring a full lock replacement.

The SwitchBot Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo costs €339.99/£339.99 (around $395) and includes the Keypad Vision Pro, Hub Mini Matter and the new Lock Ultra Max unit. Unlocking methods include fingerprint scans, passcodes, NFC cards, facial or palm vein recognition, and remote, voice, smartwatch or app-widget access. SwitchBot says the lock fits 99% of European locks, including EU profile, knob, Swiss round and UK oval cylinders, with adapters for less common setups, and its motor delivers over 9kg of turning force at 160rpm, 3.2 times faster than the previous Lock Ultra model.
