A trial has begun in Sydney into the alleged murders of a television presenter and his partner by a former police officer. Beaumont Lamarre-Condon, 31, is accused of shooting Jesse Baird, 26, and Luke Davies, 29, in February 2024 at a home in Paddington after developing an obsessive infatuation with Baird, his former romantic partner. The prosecution alleges Lamarre-Condon acted with premeditation and killed Davies to eliminate him as a witness. The case has drawn attention due to the accused's former status as a police officer and the alleged disguise used to access the home.

Prosecutors claim that after Baird ended contact with Lamarre-Condon in November 2023, the accused engaged in escalating stalking and harassment, including phoning threats and vehicle tampering. On the day of the alleged murders, he waited outside Baird's home for three hours dressed as an Uber driver before entering with a previously obtained key and shooting Baird in the kitchen and Davies in the bedroom. The couple's bodies were found eight days later in a rural area 200 kilometres away, concealed in surfboard bags. Lamarre-Condon surrendered to police and was subsequently dismissed from New South Wales Police. The trial, overseen by Justice Natalie Adams with a jury of 15, is expected to last three months.
