Sylvester Stallone has disclosed that he rejected an offer to serve as one of Donald Trump's special ambassadors to Hollywood, contradicting the president's public announcement made in early 2025. Stallone recounted declining the position after meeting with Trump, stating that Hollywood's corporate structure and decentralised nature made such an ambassadorship unworkable. The actor learned he had been publicly named to the role whilst watching television, which surprised him given he had already declined.

Stallone explained his reasoning by characterising Hollywood as operating like "feudal states," with individual studios maintaining autonomy that could not be altered by an external ambassador. Whilst Stallone rejected the ambassadorship, fellow actor Jon Voight has pursued the role actively, using it to advocate for federal tax credits for American film and television productions. Trump has shown receptiveness to Voight's efforts, publicly committing to work with both Republican and Democratic parties to establish federal production incentives aimed at supporting the entertainment industry and creating jobs.
