System of a Down has released the track "Johnny" on streaming platforms for the first time, as part of a wider campaign marking the 25th anniversary of their album Toxicity. The song had previously only appeared on international editions of the album and a UK 7-inch single alongside "Chop Suey!", never receiving a standalone release until now. Toxicity, released on 4 September 2001 and produced by Rick Rubin, became one of the defining metal albums of its era, blending heavy riffs with Armenian folk influences and politically charged lyrics.

The anniversary rollout includes a new vinyl reissue on red smoke-coloured vinyl, packaged with a bonus one-sided 7-inch featuring "Johnny" and a "25" etching, plus a double-sided poster; it is available now for preorder. The reissue also corrects a long-standing tracklist error, officially crediting the hidden closing track — previously known informally among fans as "Arto" — as "Der Voghormia", a traditional Armenian hymn. Toxicity has been certified seven-times platinum in the US and twice platinum in the UK, with roughly 15 million copies sold worldwide, while "Chop Suey!" alone has passed 2 billion Spotify streams.
