T-Mobile’s $0-down financing plan bundles taxes and fees

The Verge · 2 hours ago

T-Mobile has launched a new financing option that lets customers pay for a device along with its taxes and fees over 36 months, rather than paying those costs upfront. The Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) Flex 36 requires no initial payment and carries a 0% APR for a limited time, addressing a common frustration where financed devices still require upfront sales tax, activation fees or a deposit at checkout.

The new plan covers phones, watches and tablets, and can be combined with T-Mobile's existing device promotions. However, the $0-down offer is only guaranteed for "well-qualified customers", and T-Mobile has not clarified what less qualified customers might pay or when the 0% APR promotion ends. Alongside this, T-Mobile is extending its standard 0% financing plan from 24 to 36 months, and introducing new Student Perks plans starting at $30 per line monthly with autopay enabled.
