Talking trees, flying witch heads and an unsettling rabbit man await in the shrubbery of cursed woodland ranger sim I Hear the Forest

Ukrainian developer Podoba Interactive has announced I Hear the Forest, a new folk horror game in which players take on the role of a forest ranger who becomes cursed while working in the woods. The studio, known for previous rural-set horror titles, blends everyday ranger duties such as foraging, fishing and cooking with survival horror elements, as the protagonist must fend off supernatural threats while searching for a way to break the curse.

Gameplay will see players exploring a forest inhabited by talking trees, pleading dryads, floating mask-like faces, flying witches' heads and an unsettling rabbit-like figure, using a gun and magical amulets for protection. Podoba say the game will feature multiple endings and a "thick, lingering atmosphere of fear." The studio has also disclosed using AI for some page translations and textures in past work, pending replacement by human localisation. I Hear the Forest is due for release in 2027 and can now be wishlisted on Steam.
