Tallinn-Bound Indian Drama ‘Kidney’ Boarded by Shiladitya Bora’s Platoon One Films (EXCLUSIVE)
Platoon One Films has joined *Kidney*, the second feature by Indian siblings Aakarsh and Agrim Sansanwal, as co-producer ahead of its selection for the Critics’ Picks Competition at Estonia’s Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. The backing gives the independently made drama a chance to reach audiences beyond the village where it was filmed.
Set in an isolated Indian village, the film follows a young man and woman from feuding families whose romance is strained when an inheritance dispute revives old hostilities. The brothers say the production had very little money and was helped by local farmers when funds ran short; Platoon One founder Shiladitya Bora praised the film’s distinct style and emotional depth. The Sansanwals previously co-wrote and co-directed the experimental feature *To Caterpillar, From Butterfly*.

A co-producer helps fund a film and support its journey to audiences. Platoon One Films is an Indian production company founded by filmmaker Shiladitya Bora; Aakarsh and Agrim Sansanwal are the siblings who made Kidney.
The film is set in a remote Indian village, where a romance between two young people is affected by a longstanding feud between their families. An inheritance dispute brings that conflict back into focus, linking private relationships with questions of family and property.
Kidney was made independently on a very small budget, with local farmers helping when money ran short. Its festival selection and backing from Platoon One may help it reach viewers beyond the village where it was filmed.
