Taylor Sheridan’s Long-Awaited ‘Sicario 3’ Gets First Official Update of 2026

Collider · 2 hours ago

Actor Josh Brolin has confirmed that "Sicario 3" is officially moving forward, marking the first concrete update on the long-rumoured third instalment since writer Taylor Sheridan began developing the script. Brolin, who has played Matt Graver in both previous "Sicario" films, revealed the news whilst promoting his new film "The Dog Stars", ending years of speculation about whether the project would ever materialise beyond Sheridan's writing desk.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Brolin said the threequel "is happening" and is expected to begin production "soon", though no firm date or additional casting details were given. The original 2015 "Sicario" starred Brolin alongside Benicio del Toro and was well received, whilst its 2018 sequel, "Sicario: Day of the Soldado", was more mixed in its reception; both actors have appeared in the franchise previously. The update arrives as Sheridan ramps up his film work more broadly, with his project "F.A.S.T." due in cinemas next year and a Call of Duty film with director Peter Berg slated for 2028.
