‘Ted Lasso’ Icon Confirms Major Change For Season 4
Apple TV's flagship comedy Ted Lasso is returning for a fourth season, and star Hannah Waddingham has confirmed a significant shift in the show's premise: Ted Sudeikis's character will come back to AFC Richmond to coach the club's women's team rather than the men's side. The change matters because Ted Lasso was pivotal in establishing Apple TV as a serious streaming contender, making the long-awaited return—three years after Season 3—a notable event for the platform.
The new season is set to air from 5 August to 7 October. Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) will take charge of the men's team in a bid to restore its former glory, while Ted (Jason Sudeikis) returns alongside Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) to lead a second-division women's side, the "Lady Greyhounds". Waddingham, who reprises her role as Rebecca Welton, praised the writing and promised "a wonderful season". The official synopsis frames the women's team as Ted's "biggest challenge yet", with the group learning to "leap before they look".
