Two teenagers have been jailed for the manslaughter of 17-year-old Yeray Sanchez Morales, who was stabbed and struck with a bottle outside a McDonald’s on London’s Old Kent Road. The case highlighted how social-media photographs, CCTV and voice notes helped police identify those involved and establish their roles in the attack.

Morales suffered nine wounds to his neck and chest and died in hospital a week later. Seven people were convicted of offences connected to his death: two 18-year-olds received four-year sentences for manslaughter, while others were convicted of violent disorder and given prison, youth rehabilitation or community orders. Morales’s family said he had hoped to become a PE teacher.
