Telstra apologises for delayed missed-call alerts as MessageBank issue investigated
Thousands of Telstra customers received delayed missed call and voicemail notifications, sometimes days after the calls were supposedly made. The company apologised for the confusion after tracing the problem to its MessageBank service and said it had been fixed on Wednesday night.
Telstra is still investigating the technical cause, but said the issue was not caused by an outside influence or hacking. More than 3,000 people commented on the company’s Facebook page, sharing examples of notifications that appeared to show calls from nearby people or even from their own phones. Telstra said voice calls, mobile data and calls to Triple Zero were unaffected; its network carries 26 million mobile services.
