Terminator 2: Judgment Day returns to cinemas worldwide for 35th anniversary

Deadline · 12 hours ago

StudioCanal, Fathom Entertainment and Rialto Pictures have announced a 35th anniversary theatrical re-release of James Cameron's Oscar-winning Terminator 2: Judgment Day, opening in US cinemas on 28 August 2026 and rolling out worldwide across late August and early September. The reissue brings the highest-grossing entry in the Terminator franchise, which took over $517m globally, back to the big screen in 4K, RealD 3D and premium formats, timed to coincide with the film's fictional "Judgment Day" of 29 August.

The presentation draws on StudioCanal's 2017 restoration and 3D conversion. Cameron endorsed the release, calling the 3D version the best way to see the film, while executives from StudioCanal and Fathom praised its lasting cultural impact. The 1991 sequel, which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong and Robert Patrick, won four Oscars and earned a rare A+ CinemaScore. International dates include Germany and Latin America on 27 August, Italy and Poland on 28 August, France on 2 September, and the UK on 4 September.
