OpenEvidence reaches $15 billion valuation as doctors adopt its AI search tool

Ars Technica ·

OpenEvidence, a medical AI search tool, has grown rapidly as doctors use it to consult research and clinical guidelines when making patient-care decisions. Its popularity has helped the Miami-based startup reach a $15 billion valuation, while raising questions about the accuracy of its answers and the influence of advertising on clinical tools.

The company says doctors generated more than 42 million prompts last month, and nearly two-thirds of US doctors are using the service. It raised $250 million in September and has attracted nearly $1 billion in investment over the past 18 months; advertising revenue is projected to reach $400 million to $500 million in 2026. Hospitals including Mount Sinai and Memorial Sloan Kettering have integrated it into electronic health records, while its withdrawal from the EU and UK over the AI Act has limited its expansion there.
