Colman Domingo has urged audiences to watch Gena Rowlands’ performance in the 1974 film *A Woman Under the Influence*, describing it as “Brando-level”. He praised her portrayal of a woman experiencing a mental-health crisis as emotionally raw, fearless and technically remarkable, arguing that it remains a landmark piece of screen acting.

The film was directed by John Cassavetes and co-stars Peter Falk as Rowlands’ character’s husband. Rowlands, who died in 2024 aged 94, received an Academy Award nomination for the role, which is widely regarded as one of the defining performances of her career.
