In his memoir *Does the Noise In My Head Bother You*, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler recalled nearly quitting the band in 1993 over a lyric in the song 'Fever' from their album *Get a Grip*. Bassist Tom Hamilton objected to the line, but Tyler insisted it stay exactly as written, illustrating how fiercely protective he was of his songwriting even after getting sober and finding a career resurgence.

The disputed line played on the phrase "OD'ing", referencing the crack of someone's backside rather than drugs, and Tyler defended it as "one of my favourite lines of all time". He said he was so angered by the band's resistance that, had he quit, he would have "bought Madrid, and hung out with lemurs for the rest of my life" — but Hamilton ultimately backed down, and the line remained in the final track.
