Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway had been handed the envelope for Best Actress, which named Stone for La La Land, rather than the Best Picture envelope. La La Land’s cast and producers had begun accepting the award before the mistake was corrected and Moonlight was confirmed as the rightful winner; PwC attributed the error to human error and apologised.
