The Alien Franchise Officially Has a New Streaming Hunting Ground

*Alien: Romulus* will join Peacock’s streaming library in November, as the franchise’s future direction remains uncertain. The news comes amid reports that Ridley Scott wants to return to the storylines of *Prometheus* and *Alien: Covenant*, while the 2024 film by Fede Álvarez may not continue in that direction.

Produced by Scott and directed by Álvarez, *Romulus* earned positive reviews and grossed $350 million worldwide on a reported $80 million budget. That makes it the franchise’s second-highest-grossing film, behind *Prometheus*, which made more than $400 million. The article says Álvarez has not committed to directing a sequel, while the *Alien: Earth* television series has been renewed for a second season.
