‘The Amazing Race’ Reveals Season 39 Contestants; New Twists Include a Record 13 Express Passes and First-Ever Trip to Albania
CBS has unveiled the 13 civilian teams competing in “The Amazing Race” Season 39, which premieres across two nights on 30 September and 1 October. The new season introduces strategic changes, most notably giving every team an Express Pass, while continuing the programme’s emphasis on globe-spanning challenges for a $1 million prize.
The race starts in Vancouver, where contestants jump 200 feet from the BC Stadium catwalk, before covering more than 25,000 miles across five continents, nine countries and 13 cities. Destinations include Morocco, Laos and Albania, which the series will visit for the first time; all 13 teams must use their Express Passes before the end of the sixth leg. The contestants include friends, relatives, couples and former professional footballers Ali Krieger and Joanna Lohman.
