Anbernic will open pre-orders for its RG SP handheld on 5 August, a retro-styled clamshell device that reimagines Nintendo's Game Boy Advance SP, which launched in 2003. The base model will retail for $65, undercutting the original GBA SP's launch price, and marks the company's third attempt at reworking the classic design following the RG 35XXSP and RG 34XXSP.

The base RG SP features a 3.4-inch display matching the GBA SP's original aspect ratio and a 3,300mAh battery offering around six hours of gameplay, though it drops the analogue sticks found on the RG 34XXSP. Its H700 chip allows emulation of games up to PSP titles. Storage upgrades are available at $80 for 64GB and $95 for 128GB, and buyers who order within the device's first three days of availability will receive a $7 early-bird discount.
