The Beach Boys reschedule summer tour dates so that Mike Love can “recharge”

NME · 2 hours ago

The Beach Boys have postponed their remaining summer tour dates to give Mike Love time to rest and “recharge”. The decision matters because Love, 85, is the only classic-era member still touring with the group, and concerns have been raised about his health after an extensive run of North American and European shows.

All performances scheduled from 23 July to 3 September will be rearranged, with existing tickets honoured; the tour is due to resume on 24 September in Springfield, Massachusetts. Love reportedly suffered an unspecified illness earlier this year, while a reviewer said his voice had sounded markedly weakened at a 30 May concert; the band is also marking the US’s 250th anniversary and the 60th anniversary of ‘Pet Sounds’.
