*Coraline* is coming to HBO Max from 1 October, giving audiences a Halloween-season opportunity to revisit Laika’s acclaimed stop-motion fantasy horror film. The 2009 adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novella follows a girl who discovers an apparently perfect parallel world, only to face the sinister Other Mother, and is celebrated for treating younger viewers’ fears seriously.

Directed by Henry Selick, the film stars Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French and Ian McShane. Its arrival coincides with Laika’s forthcoming feature *Wildwood*, which is scheduled for cinemas on 23 October after years of development and features a cast including Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali and Angela Bassett.
